Syria on the list of 7 countries targeted for regime change

Remember when Gen. Wesley Clark told us about the memo he discussed with a General at the Pentagon concerning the list of 7 countries on our bucket list that need regime change?

The list included Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Iran. Back then, this was a five year plan. So, our timeframe and pecking order may have been altered, otherwise it’s pretty much right on schedule, don’t you think?

Obama chooses Ansar al-Sharia over Assad in Syria

In the latest piece in the puzzle, President Obama is backing al-Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood to replace a Middle Eastern regime. Syria will just be another link in the chain. I wonder how many people are still ignorant to what our tyrant here at home is up to?

Via The Washington Free Beacon – http://freebeacon.com/u-s-al-qaeda-linked-group-behind-benghazi-attack-trains-jihadists-for-syrian-rebel-groups/

U.S. intelligence agencies earlier this month uncovered new evidence that al Qaeda-linked terrorists in Benghazi are training foreign jihadists to fight with Syria’s Islamist rebels, according to U.S. officials.

Ansar al-Sharia, the al Qaeda-affiliated militia that U.S. officials say orchestrated the Sept. 11 attacks on the U.S. diplomatic compound and a CIA facility in Benghazi, is running several training camps for jihadists in Benghazi and nearby Darnah, another port city further east, said officials who discussed some details of the camps on condition of anonymity.

The officials said the terror training camps have been in operation since at least May and are part of a network that funnels foreign fighters to Syrian rebel groups, including the Al-Nusra Front, the most organized of the Islamist rebel groups fighting the Bashar al-Assad regime in Damascus.

The officials said the jihadist training is a clear indication that Ansar al-Sharia continues to conduct terrorist activities and is linked to jihadists in both Syria and North Africa.

Disclosure of the terror training camps also bolsters earlier intelligence assessments that Libya, following the death of Muammar Qaddafi, is now a focal point for al Qaeda terrorist activity in North Africa.

Duck Dynasty scratched off the liberal TV guide listings

Duck Dynasty has been quite the phenomenon in America and capitalism has succeeded wildly making the family multi-millionaires. That may change somewhat since the political views of Phil Robertson are now becoming widely known.

It’s little secret that Phil Robertson (far left in photo), patriarch of the popular reality show Duck Dynasty on the A&E cable network, is an outspoken Christian with decidedly conservative ideals. So it came as no surprise when a video surfaced recently of Robertson speaking out on behalf of the unborn and against abortion in America.

During a talk he gave in 2010 at a wild game feed sponsored by the Berean Bible Church in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, Robertson held a Bible over his head while declaring to the audience: “You have a God-given right to live inside your mother. To debate whether it’s right or wrong to rip you out of your mother’s womb? What in the world has happened to us?”

Recalling America’s founding principle, that rights come from God rather than government, Robertson gave the crowd of hunters and outdoorsmen a history lesson, recalling that “President Number Three” — Thomas Jefferson — “said we hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal…. [We’ve] been endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights.”

He added that “these are God-given rights … that no one can take away from you,” noting that one of those rights is to life. “I’ll tell you, it doesn’t take 150 years — we start ripping babies out of wombs. They should have listened to Thomas Jefferson. [He] had it right. You have a God-given right to live, for crying out loud!”

Robertson expressed the horror that in America pockets of people and groups are debating about whether “some woman has the right to tear [a baby] out a piece at a time! Come on! What in the world happened to us? I’ll tell you what happened to us. We need more George Washingtons. We need more Andrew Jacksons. We need more Thomas Jeffersons, [who will stand for the] God-given right to live, to be free, and to pursue happiness.”

This is not the first time Robertson has blasted America’s abortion culture, according to Religion News Service (RNS). During an appearance at a pregnancy center that gained national attention, “Robertson decried the hippie generation and abortion, saying, ‘That movement lured 60 million babies out of their mothers’ wombs,’” quoted the secular leaning RNS.

The most recent clip follows a similar video, published recently by Baptist Press News, in which Robertson recounts his conversion to faith in Christ. “I just decided to follow Him 38 years ago when I heard that He, in fact, was God in flesh,” recalled Robertson. “Not only was He God in flesh, it took the blood of God to remove my ‘sex, drugs, and rock and roll’ lifestyle — sin. Well, I’m sitting there listening and I’m like, ‘Man, that was a mighty kind thing to do for a scumbag like me.’ Not only that, it wouldn’t do me any good, though, if something could not be done about the six-foot hole I’m going into — and you too, by the way.”

In the 1960s Robertson walked away from a football scholarship and a likely pro football career (for two years he started as quarterback at Louisiana Tech ahead of future NFL Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw) to follow his passion for hunting and fishing. That passion led him to create a unique duck call, called the Duck Commander, that turned into a full-time business and made him and his family millionaires.

Duck Dynasty, now in its fourth year on A&E, is a refreshingly clean and wildly popular reality show that follows Robertson, his sons, and his brother Si as they pursue their multi-million-dollar business and their passion for the outdoors.

Baptist Press columnist Kelly Boggs notes that “in an entertainment culture thick with the stench of sexual innuendo and the foul odor of every dysfunction imaginable, Duck Dynasty is a breath of fresh air. The content is clean and features a close-knit intact family who are unapologetic about their Christian faith.”

Boggs observed that with their redneck style, flowing “mountain man” beards, and virile outdoorsmen attitudes, the Robertsons “defy the typical stereotype many people have of what a Christian should be. The Robertsons live their faith; they don’t feel the need to portray it via perma-press clothes and coiffed hair.”

He added that each episode of Duck Dynasty “is peppered with staunchly conservative values. At the close of each program, a moral is drawn from the program, always emphasizing something of virtue.”

Phil Robertson explained the show’s premise — and his family’s lifestyle — this way: “We’re godly people. We really don’t use filthy language. We really do fear God. We really do love you; you’re our neighbor. We’re gonna be good to you, really.” He added that “we love you irregardless of how you feel about us. In other words, our love for you is not contingent upon whether you love us or not. We just love you.”

Duck Dynasty’s increasing popularity over the past four years has defied the worldly wisdom of entertainment experts who visibly cringe at the bold faith and simple values of the show’s stars. Last season Duck Dynasty averaged 8.4 million viewers per episode, and this year the August 14 premier of the show’s fourth season drew an astounding 11.8 million viewers, making it cable TV’s most viewed non-fiction program to date.

Reflecting on the success of the show and his thriving family business, Phil Robertson says that “either I was real lucky … or God was right all along: ‘Love Me, trust Me, work hard, do what is right, and I will bless you and your barns will be filled up, tapped down, and running over.’ It’s either luck or God said, ‘I’ll bless you. You did good.’ I’m leaning toward it was the Almighty.”

Get informed about The Inform Act

Via PBS – http://www.pbs.org/newshour/rundown/2013/08/detroit-today-washington-tomorrow.html

The debt Uncle Sam publicly acknowledges — official federal debt in the hands of the public — is now $12 trillion. But the true measure of our debt — the one suggested by economic theory — is the fiscal gap, which totals $222 trillion. The fiscal gap is the present value of all future expenditures, including servicing outstanding official federal debt, minus the present value of all future receipts.

As you know, only the conspiracy theorists discuss these numbers because the man on the street has no comprehension of them. Thankfully, we have the government in place to protect us from ourselves.

In short, it is the words that the government attaches to its receipts and payments, not the economic content of these receipts and payments, that determine what is labeled debt and what is left off the books. Indeed, with the right choice of words, Uncle Sam can report any level of the debt at any time in the past, this year or in the future regardless of the true underlying fiscal policy that he’s running.

The fiscal gap doesn’t suffer from this economic labeling problem; it generates the same present value shortfall of expenditures over receipts no matter what labels are applied. The reason is simple: The fiscal gap measures all future expenditures (all outflows) net of all future receipts (all inflows) regardless of what they are called.

We’ve seen the perfect example of this policy of reporting whatever the Treasury sees fit currently with no increase in the official national debt since May 17.

Fortunately, Senators Tim Kaine, D-Va., and John Thune, R-S.D., introduced in late July a bill called “The Inform Act,” which I helped draft together with Alan Auerbach of the University of California at Berkeley. The bill would compel the Government Accountability Office (GAO) and CBO to do fiscal gap and generational accounting on an annual basis and, upon the request of Congress, for major new fiscal initiatives. Senators Chris Coons, D-Del., and Rob Portman, R-Ohio, are co-sponsors of the bill.

Will this dash of sunlight be enough to finally get people mad as hell about what their elected officials have been doing with their future? I wouldn’t bet on it as it would require unprecedented amounts of self-imposed austerity to even begin to address it.

Who’s up for volunteering to take one for the team? Please, not all at once!

Barry has a record and it isn’t pretty

Obama supporters will go hysterical over this well sourced list of 252 examples of his lying, lawbreaking, corruption, cronyism, etc.

By Dan from Squirrel Hill

As the author of this blog post, I place it into the public domain. Anyone may freely copy it in any part or in its entirely, without asking my permission, and without paying any money. I do ask you please cite a link to http://danfromsquirrelhill.wordpress.com/2013/08/15/obama-252/

I ask you to please show this list to as many people as possible – and especially, to please show it to as many Obama supporters as possible. Sunshine really is the best disinfectant. I can’t stop Obama from doing any of these horrible things, but I can tell people about what he is doing. So please share this list with others on Facebook, Twitter, etc. Thank you. The short link for this is http://tinyurl.com/ku9vxug

Every President, every politician, and every human being tells lies and engages in acts of hypocrisy. But Barack Obama does these things to a far greater degree than anyone else that I have ever known of. His campaign promises were so much better sounding than anyone else’s – no lobbyists in his administration, waiting five days before signing all non-emergency bills so people would have time to read them, putting health care negotiations on C-SPAN, reading every bill line by line to make sure money isn’t being wasted, prosecution of Wall St. criminals, ending raids against medical marijuana in states where it’s legal, high levels of transparency. Obama’s promises of these wonderful things sounded inspiring and sincere. They sounded so much better than the promises of any other President. So when Obama broke these promises, it felt so much worse than when other Presidents broke their promises.

In the 2008 United States election, I wrote in Ron Paul for President. In the 2012 election, I voted for Libertarian Party candidate Gary Johnson. Those who are of a more leftist persuasion than myself might want to consider voting for the Green Party in future elections.

Some of the things on this list are major events that should scare the daylights out of any true liberal who cares about civil liberties.

Other things on this list are medium things that some Obama supporters may dislike, but would be willing to overlook in light of the things that Obama has done which they like.

And some of the things on this list may seem trivial, but I still think they are an interesting reflection of the kinds of policies that Obama supports.

Every claim that I make in this list is sourced. Click on the blue text to see the sources. I have cited a wide variety of sources, from right wing, to left wing, to middle of the road.

I welcome any comments and criticisms that you may have. If you say my list is wrong, please back up your claim by citing specific examples.

And now, on with the list:

The Liberty Amendments released

As any of the regular readers of Spellchek have noted, we’ve been on hiatus around here for quite some time. Life does have priorities, doesn’t it? However, I did wish to point out that today is the day Mark Levin releases his new book, The Liberty Amendments. For the record, I have no connection with Mark Levin whatsoever, in particular in promoting his books.

About a year and a half ago, I wrote a post entitled “The New Articles of Confederation“. It wasn’t intended as a solution, merely a conversation starter. I made this statement in it.

When I call for the New Articles of Confederation, I mean to strengthen our liberty through the Constitutional process, not to do away with it.

That’s the point of the book from Levin. Work within the framework of the Constitution to fix it. I highly suggest you get a copy and read it. Hoping for a solution to the beltway from within or even the ballot box is folly. Levin’s solution is an ethical, legal, and feasible way to address it.
