11 yr. old Michigan girl takes Bidens advice and scares off intruder with a shotgun

LAPEER COUNTY (WJRT) (01/31/15) – The Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office says an 11-year-old girl scared away a man who broke into her home. The scary situation unfolded Friday night on Five Lakes Road in North Branch Township. Deputies say the girl was home alone, when someone knocked on all the doors. When they didn’t get a response, a man broke into the home. Deputies say the girl locked herself in a bathroom closet with a shot gun. When the man broke in the girl pointed the gun at him, ultimately scaring away the intruder. A short time later a 53-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman from Detroit were arrested in Imlay City in connection to the break-in. The 11-year-old was not hurt.

Thank goodness this girl’s parents had the wherewithal to teach this girl to protect herself as this is a rural area and calling 9-1-1 as the gun grabbers prefer could have resulted in a much different outcome.

You may recall VP Bidens advice to a girl named Kate at a townhall meeting.

“Kate, if you want to protect yourself, get a double barreled shotgun,” Biden responded. “I promise you, as I told my wife, we live in an area that’s wooded and somewhat secluded. I said, Jill, if there’s ever a problem, just walk out on the balcony here, walk out, put [up] that double barreled shotgun and fire two blasts outside the house.”

Just what kind of response time could this little girl have expected by calling 9-1-1? No one can stay for sure due to a variety of factors but this post from the Wall Street Journal claims a national average of 11 minutes in an urban area – http://blogs.wsj.com/numbers/response-times-detroit-giving-no-time-to-misleading-police-stats-1264/. Suffice it to say it’s likely it would have been more than 11 minutes and that is far too long in a matter of life and death.
