Indiana religious rights fury isn’t about legislating gay discrimination, it’s about legislating religious discrimination

The furor over Indiana passing the religious freedom restoration law is just the latest example of the left co-opting an issue for political gain. We know the back story now. President Clinton signed similar federal legislation. A couple dozen other states also have similar legislation on the books. Obama signed on as a state senator. So there’s no precedent here, just hypocrisy from the left.

This is an example of the Obama charter of negative liberties. You may recall this interview Obama gave.

“The Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth, and of more basic issues such as political and economic justice in society… [The Supreme Court] didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution, at least as it’s been interpreted, and the Warren Court interpreted in the same way, that generally the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties. [It] says what the states can’t do to you. [It] says what the federal government can’t do to you, but [it] doesn’t say what the federal government or state government must do on your behalf.”

In other words, this isn’t an issue about potentially legalizing gay discrimination. What Obama and his LGBT community brown shirt supporters want is for legislation to be passed to dictate that all will actively promote the LGBT community. Tolerance is nowhere near enough. They want the government to intervene “on your behalf” to force all Americans, not just limited to religious objection, to promote their views.

The Founders inserted limitations in our Constitution to keep church and state separate. The Supreme Court never ventured into areas Obama objects to because those aren’t areas in which laws need to be clarified. Pursuing an agenda to rectify a non-existent “charter of negative liberties” is the mantra of the left. Activist judges and courts that legislate from the bench. It violates the spirit of the Constitution as well as the language used by the Founders.

This is collectivism trumping individualism. It is how our liberties are slowly and methodically stripped away bit by bit. Ignorant Americans will embrace the emotional aspect of this issue. They will buy into the idea that this is an attack on the rights of gays. Reinforcing existing protections such as religious freedom is seen as an attack on gay rights. In lefty world, you cannot have both mutually exclusive. It is a pendulum in which protection of rights under law they don’t agree with must infringe upon the rights of those they do support.

This issue, as well as an ever increasing list of others, is a prime example of why the opposite of what Obama calls for is true. We don’t need government at any level intruding in our lives to dictate how we must live them. Obama said “what the government must do on our behalf”. Precisely the problem.

The MICE will play while the CAT is away

Eisenhower’s famous line warning us against the military-industrial complex was altered. In a prior draft, he had called it by its correct terminology, the military-industrial Congressional complex. Today we must include corporate America into the mix. Various wordings have been used by different people, myself included, over the years. I believe I once went with the military-industrial-corporate-elected official complex. That’s because I liked it but also because the acronym is MICE which is to the point and seems fitting.

So who is the CAT that allows the MICE to play? Why, the credit of the American taxpayer of course!

The war in Yemen seems to have flared up rather quickly until you learn the back stories. The BBC revisits the history with the war from over 45 years ago –

The Islamism that we face today rose up in the 1970s precisely as a reaction to those corrupt regimes and their western backers. It too is an anti-colonial project that is very similar to Nasser’s vision of a united Arab world free of western influence – but with religion bolted on. And now, to fight it, we are preparing to send arms and “intelligence advisers” to help prop up a corrupt regime in Yemen.

Zero Hedge attempts to explain

What’s REALLY Going On In Yemen

Yemen – previously called “Aden” – has one of the oldest civilizations in the Middle East.  But it has been racked with violence for a long time.

In the 1960s, a pro-Arab nationalist faction clashed with the British – who wanted Yemen to become a Western-controlled natural resource hub – and devolved into brutal fighting, with both sides using terrorism.

Once again, we see the role of natural resources in global wars. The current war in Yemen was started last year when the President removed fuel subsidies that resulted in overnight price increases of up to 90%. Fresh water is extremely scarce in Yemen and the farmers must utilize wells as rainfall is inadequate. Wells require fuel to run the pumps so a massive price increase was devastating to a poor country. The Houthi revolt was underway and opened the door to where we are today.

Will Yemen descend into the chaos that triggers a widespread Middle East war? Perhaps. No one knows for sure. The prophecies tell us this won’t be the big one to end all wars if that’s a consolation. Not yet.

But you can be sure the MICE will eat good. Will Congress ever get caught in a mouse trap by enabling its partners to profit from perpetual war? Hardly seems likely. Remember that it is they who set the trap with the cheese. In the case of Yemen, the people got hooked on free cheese in the form of fuel subsidies from the government and when it was taken away, they took to the streets. Now they pay with blood in a complex web of religious fanatics, foreign money influence, strategic geography and political gamesmanship with redistribution of social welfare programs.

Should we just give everybody a nuke so we’re all equal?

Israel has been known to have nuclear weapons for years. They have never confirmed it and still haven’t to this day. Why? Because they knew that other countries in the region, particularly Iran, would then have standing as far needing their own as a protective measure against Israel. Now the DOD has confirmed what was already known by declassifying a report from 1987 that details the Israeli nuclear program. It certainly stands to reason it has advanced much further in the last 18 years.

Iran has been known to have nuclear weapons for years. Yet no report has come forward to confirm it yet. There have been media reports out over the years that delve into it including this one out yesterday.

Does Iran Have Secret Nukes in North Korea?

Or this one from a former CIA spy.

KAHLILI: Iran already has nuclear weapons

There are more if you need them. But just ask yourself this question. Why would Iran, a country that has withstood decades of sanctions, suddenly seem to just give up last year and agree to the negotiations we are seeing today? Did they suddenly grow tired of sanctions? Or did they reach a point in their nuclear program in which it was now more beneficial to strike a deal?

If you are Iran and you either already have nuclear weapons whether in Iran or North Korea, don’t you have more to gain by taking advantage of Obama and his agenda by making a deal to ease sanctions in exchange for monitoring? If you already have the bomb, you can’t advertise it. So why wouldn’t you make a deal that has huge financial benefits? It’s a no brainer.

Perhaps there will be a day when some intelligence comes to light to verify Iran’s nuclear program. Those that are exposing it now will be able to say I told you so. And to those that are yelling fire right now that Iran may someday get a nuke because of Obama’s bad deal? You’re way behind the times. They already have it. We know it. Israel knows it. And anyone that just looks at the whole picture logically already knows it. Now it’s just a matter of how much Iran can extract via easing sanctions and with a pro-Iranian President in office that shouldn’t be too difficult.

The time is now approximately 2:00pm eastern time on Monday, March 30, 2015. Swami is predicting a breakthrough to whatever in the world the media claims is holding up the negotiations and possibly threatening a deal from ever taking place. Somehow, some way, or Inshallah, as Kerry puts it, a deal will get done before the deadline. Obama will claim victory, spew some rhetoric about the tough metrics Iran must meet and proclaim the world is now a safer place.

And Iran already has the bomb.

The Obama self-imposed redline has passed without a deal. Yet. Turns out that Iran is acting just as predicted. They are playing Obama to get all they can out of this deal by turning the Obama deadline back on him.

Obama Told Iran Nuclear Negotiators to Disregard Deadline in 11th Hour

UPDATE #2*******************************************

Told ya! OK, that’s not really saying much. Everybody knew, or should have known, Obama would announce a deal.

Iran And World Powers Agree On Framework For Nuclear Deal

As predicted, I believe I said he would claim victory and say the world is safer.

U.S. President Barack Obama lauded the agreement as a “historic understanding” in a press statement outside The White House.

“I’m convinced that if this framework leads to a final comprehensive deal, it will make our country, our allies and our world safer,” Obama said.

So no surprises. Despotic, narcissistic, ideologue, dictators (and we aren’t even talking about Iran) really aren’t that hard to predict.

Just remember, the day will come will you too will learn that Iran already has the bomb and is just playing the U.S., the world, and Obama for fools.

Yemen is Saudi Arabia’s Cuban missile crisis

Americans are getting yet another geography lesson as they are learning all about Yemen, where it is located and its strategic importance. Most of what we read leads one to believe that the Yemen crisis just popped up overnight. Yemen is the Saudi Arabian Cuban missile crisis. Saudi Arabia cannot stand by and allow Iranian missiles to be deployed right at its southern border. Some even speculate that Iran will use Yemen to make a push all the way to Mecca or even Riyadh.

The Houthi uprising, backed by Iran, is seen as just the latest battle in the Sunni-Sh’ia confrontations. What is interesting is the lead up to the current state of crisis. How and why the Houthi coup led to the group forcing the government out and how quickly it happened. That’s the headline in the U.S. as President Obama has to eat crow over his proclamation of Yemen as a foreign policy success.

Yet the trigger that has brought us to where we are today is what we here at Spellchek have been highlighting for years. Natural resources. Water and oil. Yemen is one of the driest countries in the world in terms of freshwater. Infighting has been going on for many, many years over access to water. Yemen is not oil rich as most Middle Eastern countries are perceived to be. Yet that have pursued the black gold in recent years and that has diverted away even more water than normal. When the government ended fuel subsidies last year, the Houthi revolt was on and the coup took place.

But just remember what really started it. Water. Here is a link to one story. I encourage you to read it. There are many more.

Yemen Is Tearing Itself Apart Over Water

The mainstream media will continue to push that Yemen is just being used as a proxy war point between Iran and Saudi Arabia. That it was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. The truth is that this crisis has been a long time coming. It’s a precursor to more like it as fresh water becomes a scarcer commodity throughout the world.

Dying well at the hands of a despot

The 6 U.S. Soldiers Who Died Searching for Bowe Bergdahl

Was it worth it?

“Was it worth it? Absolutely,” – Jen Psaki, White House Communications Director

Yes I took Psaki out of context. She had no concern for the 6 dead soldiers. She was referring to the Gitmo 5.

Five of the Most Dangerous Taliban Commanders in U.S. Custody Exchanged for American Captive

So I’ll put it in context for her. President Obama feels it was worth it for 6 American soldiers to die, 5 of the most dangerous Taliban Commanders to be freed as part of his agenda to empty out Gitmo, and all in exchange for a deserter who at best sympathized with and at worst conspired with the enemy.

Agendas from ideologues come at a very heavy price. For some, it costs their lives. Just ask the families of the 4 dead Americans in Benghazi. Just ask the families of the 30 dead Americans who died when their Chinook helicopter was shot down after Obama irresponsibly outed SEAL Team 6 so he could take credit and seek praise for killing Osama bin Laden. Just ask the families of American journalists James Foley, Steven Sotloff and aid worker Kayla Meuller who died at the hands of ISIS swords when Obama sat on British intelligence for a month before acting because he didn’t trust the intel even though it came from an ally.

Perhaps you could ask the families of the countless thousands who have died as Obama has forced regime change in Libya and Egypt to promote the Muslim Brotherhood. Or ask the families of the collateral damage from Obama directed airstrikes and drone strikes of an enemy he refuses to call by name so that a vague War on Terror becomes one of political expediency rather than identifying and destroying an enemy of America.

Yes indeed, blood spilled for the convenience of an agenda is very expensive. Was it worth it? Just ask the families of the dead. Dying for country or liberty or family or God? That’s dying well. Dying for a despot? Charlie Chaplin has the answer.

Soldiers! don’t give yourselves to brutes – men who despise you – enslave you – who regiment your lives – tell you what to do – what to think and what to feel! Who drill you – diet you – treat you like cattle, use you as cannon fodder. Don’t give yourselves to these unnatural men – machine men with machine minds and machine hearts! You are not machines! You are not cattle! You are men! You have the love of humanity in your hearts! You don’t hate! Only the unloved hate – the unloved and the unnatural! Soldiers! Don’t fight for slavery! Fight for liberty!

MSNBC panelist makes usual ridiculous comment and the network issues a disclaimer – what in the world is going on?

Are we seeing the first evidence that MSNBC has moved from the extreme far left to just the normal left tilt? Normally when an MSNBC guest makes a statement as in the following video, you won’t ever see this network making a statement disassociating themselves from it.

Of course, the other panelist got a good chuckle. According to the moonbat on the panel, redneck America has declared Jihad on Muslims and if you’re a listener, you are being indoctrinated. And I always thought country music was about momma and trains and trucks and prison and gettin’ drunk.

Who knew the perfect country song was a call to Jihad?

Switzerland bails out Hamas

President Obama was furious that Israeli PM Netanyahu and the GOP intervened in his negotiations with Iran over its nuclear program. He directed the mainstream media branch of his administration to release its attack dogs on all fronts as this is a primary agenda item for himself and his wingman, Valerie Jarrett.

Yet it may seem somewhat puzzling for his failure to publicly acknowledge the role Switzerland has been playing in the Middle East. The Swiss have been players throughout the Middle East for decades. They served as the go-between for U.S.-Iran negotiations since the early 1980’s to keep a communication conduit open. Switzerland has a gas deal in place with Iran, have consistently negotiated with Hamas and Hezbollah and fully support a two-state settlement in the Israeli-Palestine dispute.

Now the Swiss are coming to the financial aid of Hamas.

Report: Switzerland Comes to Aid of Hamas, Will Pay Salaries to Gaza Operatives

Switzerland has put together a plan to reconstruct the Gaza Strip which includes paying the salaries of Hamas operatives, according to Palestinian officials interviewed by Israel’s NRG website. The plan would also reestablish the status of the Hamas terrorist organization as the only authority in the Gaza Strip.

For the Swiss, it’s always been about resources. They recognize states as opposed to governments and are interested in securing energy access back home. Negotiating with all players at the table is seen as necessary to accomplish these trade deals without much regard to the political climate. Not that there aren’t partisans in Switzerland. The Green Party has long been seen as anti-Semite and pro-Palestinian.

The U.S. has been sending aid to Palestine for years. Some of it ends up in the hands of Hamas. Funds sent to the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt have been funneled to Hamas. In recent years, Qatar has been the main source of funding for Hamas. Do you know what Qatar has in common with Switzerland? They conduct foreign policy by talking to everybody. It’s a self-protection policy against attack as they are the richest country in the world (per capita) and have tremendous natural resources.

Qatar got itself removed from the U.S. terror list by allowing a U.S. base to be built there. They have evolved in recent years to stop direct state funding of terrorist organizations. Instead, they have switched to the Swiss model of utilizing charities to funnel money to terror groups. The PLO will take money from all channels, official or not.

The Palestinians themselves just got a public rebuke from the Obama Administration for unilaterally moving to establish a diplomatic presence at the United Nations.

U.S. Warns of ‘Implications’ as Palestinians Deliver International Court Documents – Read more:

Obama has to keep the Palestinians in check because he wants his legacy to include a legitimate two state settlement. Despite his anti-Semitism views (history here), he knows you can’t take out Israel in one fell swoop. The Swiss, as well as Qatar, won’t face the public scrutiny that Congress or Israel will face in gumming up the works to getting another bucket list item off the Obama agenda. It makes no difference that they play both sides because they aren’t viewed as impediments to Middle East diplomacy.

Gasp! Israel spies on U.S. and tells them what they said

With all the high stakes lobbying recently between the U.S., Israel and Iran, we were due for some comic relief. A “senior U.S. official” provided it for us to bask in.

Israel reportedly spied on Iran nuclear talks in effort to lobby Congress against deal

Israel has spied on the ongoing nuclear talks with Iran as part of a campaign to convince members of Congress to oppose an agreement, according to a published report.

The Wall Street Journal says that Israel’s lobbying effort has angered Obama administration officials, one of whom told the paper that “something serious has shifted here.”

“It is one thing for the U.S. and Israel to spy on each other. It is another thing for Israel to steal U.S. secrets and play them back to U.S. legislators to undermine U.S. diplomacy,” the paper quoted a senior U.S. official as saying.

I’m trying to follow this while I’m ROTFLMAO. So it’s OK for the U.S. and Israel to spy on each other. We both know we”re doing it. Everyone else knows we’re doing it. It’s as sure as the sun coming up in the morning. Yet if we take the intel we learn from spying and then turn around and tell the other party exactly what they just said, this is somehow outrageous? Apparently protocol here is to spy on your friends and enemies as much as you like, you can then share those secrets with others but you aren’t allowed to “play them back” to the very people that they came from. Got that?

i thought I’d try to come up with a scenario to use as an example. Imagine Bibi is hanging out with the boys down at Mossad and he picks up on Barry relaying his NCAA bracket picks to his bookie. The next day Bibi calls Barry on his Maxwell Smart shoe phone to discuss minor topics such as Iran deploying their newfound nuclear missiles. But Bibi makes the mistake of telling Barry he knows his Final Four picks and will go public with them before Barry does if they don’t get Iran to give up their nukes. Outrageous! Bibi would have the gall to use the POTUS picks as a bargaining chip! Talk about undermining diplomacy.

You know, if the stakes weren’t so high, you could laugh at these childish antics from the Obama Administration. Or do as John McCain did when he called out Obama a couple days ago and told him to get over his temper tantrum. You have to laugh or you’ll cry.

What’s the big deal with the negotiations? It’s not that hard to figure out. Israel wants to keep what it has and not have it’s neighbors pointing nukes at them. Obama wants Iran to have the bomb and for Palestine to take back what Israel took from them. Iran wants death to America, Israel and Saudi Arabia. Anything else is just window dressing.

If negotiations are really hinging upon semantics such as spying protocol, does anyone have any confidence a real solution is in the works?

How long can America survive in a post-Constitutional era?

If students in American academia were asked what they believe the purpose of the U.S. Constitution is, how would you imagine most would answer? Would they say it is the law of the land? Would they say it is intended to set limits on the authority of the federal government? Would they lean towards the progressive tilt as embraced by President Obama and consider it a “charter of negative liberties ” that doesn’t address what federal and state governments must do on your behalf? I’ve no intention of answering the question with statistics. How you answer will generally define your political leanings to the left or right.

History doesn’t leave the question of the purpose of our Constitution unanswered. The Articles of Confederation were drafted to win the Revolutionary War. They failed because they didn’t provide the authority required to match the mandate. When the Constitutional Convention took place, the Virginia Plan was the basis for replacing, not modifying, the Articles of Confederation. It’s quite clear that America had serious reservations about empowering its own over bearing central government as it had just broken free from an over bearing King. The result was the compromise intended to empower a central government strong enough to lead but not so strong as to control its citizens.

There is no doubt that the progressives of today led by the President are attempting to rewrite the intentions of the Constitution. The vagueness of the text is purposeful so as to not invalidate itself as time passes as different eras come and go. The ability to interpret it and alter it through the amendment process are tools for longevity, not obsolescence. The lack of specific and focused text pertaining to the agenda items the President longs for are a prime example of limits on power. That wasn’t short-sightedness on behalf of the Founders, rather it was the intentional limits on centralized power that the progressives detest.

Unfortunately, the American experiment with a Constitutionally limited republic has failed. America is not a free country. There still remains a vast number of delusional people who believe the ‘system’ can still work and self-correct. Simply elect the right people and nothing that has been done cannot be undone. Those views are what should be truly considered extremist today as they deny reality. Since no one can define a tipping point in which we can all agree takes us past the point of no return, society will find itself past it before it knows it. The Founders put in place a system requiring the integrity of man to be superior to his faults. Checks and balances only work when there are true differences among elected officials.

Defining what it means to have failed as a country is an exercise in futility. Even if we get to the point of concentration camps and gulags feeding us our daily supply of gruel, you would have those who still deem it necessary to protect us from ourselves, say in the face of the aftermath of a nuclear war. So don’t expect the N.Y. Times to ever declare on its front page that America is officially dead. Whatever comes to pass will simply be. Interpretation and mis-interpretation will still rule the day.

I suspect that over time we will see a continued metamorphosis of our major political parties. I think you’ll see what is considered a standard conservative today will evolve to adopt the environmentalist movement as part of its platform. The basic reasoning behind sustainability and protecting the environment is really far more suited to a conservative ideology than it is to a radical, progressive thought process. This will likely take many years, decades to be sure. We’re already seeing the roots of discontent as the tent of progressivism is a bit too large to encompass all aspects of everything environmental.

Conservatives are adamantly opposed to public financing of the crony-corporatism version of capitalism we see so much of today. Public perception is that the right favors the rich, corporate America and is anti-social safety net. True conservatives won’t adhere to a capitalism, free market first mantra at any expense. With government the enabler of Wall Street and corporate America, public investment of green initiatives will blur the lines even further. Healthcare is already well on its way as Obamacare is the initial step to eliminate the private healthcare industry and incorporate healthcare into the government monopoly. We’ll see the separation occur when true issues designed to protect the environment are distinct from the profiteers simply wishing to co-opt a movement for profit. Conservatives will align with those that are outside the lines.

As I said, it won’t happen quickly. But it will be a natural progression. Just as the liberal agenda has dramatically shifted from the 1960’s, we’ll see the conservatives further part ways from today’s GOP and incorporate what the left discards as not worthy. The lines between the GOP and the Democrat Party are blurring more everyday as the military-industrial-corporate-government partnership keeps growing. When you take the political rhetoric out of it, ignore the soundbites and talking points generated for public consumption, you see a clear bottom line in which both parties pursue parallel agendas which lead to all things big. The class separation continues as the middle class is squeezed.

Will America crumble when the world economic crash hits? Will the financial system and our currency implode? Will there be civil unrest and chaos in the streets? Will the country fracture into regions with differing currencies and governments? Frankly, it’s hard not to see how but experience has taught me nothing is for sure except the end as the Good Book tells us. So don’t be surprised if the elites find a way to pick up the pieces and keep some version of the gravy train going in the aftermath without the American story relegated to the history books just yet.

Guy brings knife to gunfight and loses

Police: Man swinging a machete shot at New Orleans airport

You know the old saying about never bringing a knife to a gunfight. Reminds me of this.

Maybe the kook was mad his wasp spray (is that cheaper than mace?) and machete weren’t allowed as a carry-on. However, it appears Mr. White had no intention of boarding a flight.

Normand said investigators were trying to determine what White was doing at the airport. He said it did not appear that he was trying to get on a plane.

This has always been a mystery to me. All of the attention has always been geared toward stopping someone from bringing an airplane down. Seems terrorists love those high profile events. Well, where do you suppose the greatest concentration of people are in aviation? That’s right, they are in the terminal. If you’re intentions are to create fear and cause an economic disruption by crashing airplanes into buildings, wouldn’t you think it to be just as effective to blow up a whole bunch of people in a terminal? I mean, talk about creating fear and stopping commerce. Then you would have to be afraid to simply be at an airport period.

There are minimal levels of security to simply enter a terminal. If ISIS or some other terrorist organization really wanted to make a statement with little planning effort or fear of getting caught, just have a whole bunch of terrorists with suitcase bombs walk into airports around the world at the same time and blow them up. What is the fallout? Airline travel comes to a screeching halt. Economies are devastated. And the terrorists never had to come up with a scheme to defeat TSA security because you don’t even have to go through a checkpoint.

Maybe it’s the cynic in me, but this is why so many conspiracy stories get legs. If it is merely terrorist organizations looking to get bang for their buck and make a huge impact, why don’t they do as I mentioned above or take out other minimally protected areas such as public utilities? Poisoning the water, taking down the electric grid, etc. These things are easy to do. Anyone with a computer, internet access and a death wish can easily plan and execute terror and on a wide scale.

If you want to buy the company line that we haven’t been hit in America since 9/11 due to our security presence, do as you wish. Fact is there are far too many soft targets to ever protect in a free country. Should we only fear terrorists from far away lands living in caves planning our demise or do we have more to fear right here at home? You can read into that whatever you like but common sense should make one very skeptical.

Protecting airports completely can never be done 100% but can be vastly improved. Simply move the checkpoint to the airport entrance to screen everyone and everything that enters. It won’t happen as it is inconvenient and an impediment to commerce. So we get the occasional story about wasp spraying, knife wielding nuts. But at least our airports aren’t blown up by terrorists, right? If it’s really them we need to fear.
